About Rick White

Rick White Rick White was born December 23, 1968 in Springfield, Ohio. Rick graduated from Kenton Ridge High School in Springfield, Ohio in 1987 where he played baseball and wrestled. He attended Wright State University but transferred to Paducah Community College in 1988. He graduated from PCC in 1990 earning a degree in applied sciences. He was first-team All-Conference both seasons at PCC. Prior to graduation from PCC, he was offered a baseball scholarship to Southern Mississippi University.

Rick was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1990 and made his major league debut in 1994 with the Pirates. As his career progressed, Rick spent two and a half seasons with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998-2000) as a key part of their bullpen. In two consecutive seasons (1999 and 2000), he was second in the major league in relief innings pitched with a combined total of 208 innings for both years. In July 2000, Rick was traded to the New York Mets and advanced to the 200 World Series. He made 66 appearances in 2000, splitting the season between Tampa Bay and the Mets. In 2002, Rick appeared in the post-season for the second time with the St. Louis Cardinals; however, the Cardinals were eliminated in the NLCS by the San Francisco Giants. He returned to Pittsburgh in 2005 and had a career-high 71 appearances. While actively playing, he batted and threw right-handed. For is 13 seasons in the majors, Rick worked primarily as a relief pitcher and was with 12 major league teams.

Rick is an avid hunter, having been introduced to hunting by his brother Chris in 1994. He has scored four Boone and Crockett bucks to date.

Currently, Rick is retired from baseball and is enjoying family life at his home in Springfield, Ohio. He is married to Corie (Puckett), and they have three children; two daughters - Alexis and Dakota, and one son - Hunter.

Rick has established Rick White's Rising Stars to bring his love of baseball back to the Springfield area and to help refurbish and improve the local baseball fields for the area's "Rising Stars".
